Author Talk and Book Signing with Virginia McGee Richards - May 20, 2026 5:30 PM - 7:00 PM @ The Historic Harrington School Cultural Center

Join Righton Books and the St. Simons African American Heritage Coalition at the Historic Harrington School on Wednesday, May 20, from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m.l for an author talk and book signing with Virginia McGee Richards. Her book, The Inner Passage: An Untold Story of Black Resistance Along a Southern Waterway, is a deeply moving photographic and narrative history of a southern waterway that the enslaved were forced to build for mercantile shipping—but which they used to escape slavery. Richards documents the lost narrative of the Inner Passage through 60 extraordinary photographs of landscapes altered by slavery and portraits of Lowcountry descendants, along with an essay describing her discovery of this untold history.

The event is free and open to the public. Space is limited. Please register on EventBrite.
