Cinema Gourmet - HIGH NOON - Jan 8, 2026 6:30 PM - 9:30 PM @ The Ritz Theatre

Cinema Gourmet, Golden Isles Arts & Humanities’ popular series pairing delicious food with classic films, continues Thursday, January 8, 2026, with the classic revisionist Western High Noon. The film’s screening and discussion are paired with the culinary delights of Chef Judah Lynch and Indigo Coastal Shanty. The evening’s events begin with delicious food at 6:30 p.m. 

High Noon, released in 1952, centers on a town marshal whose sense of duty is tested when he must decide to either face a gang of killers alone or leave town with his new wife.  The action takes place in real time, with a minute on screen equaling a minute in watching, building the tension and suspense. It is a classic story of good vs. evil, but the town the marshal will soon be leaving (one way or another) is as much a character as the marshal.  Starring Gary Cooper who deservedly won an Oscar for his role, and Grace Kelly in her first film role, High Noon is a landmark film that transcends the traditional Western genre. 

Cinema Gourmet will offer three more screenings during the season: Stand By Me, Rob Reiner’s coming of age story on February 12; the hilarious British comedy starring Alec Guiness, The Ladykillers on March 12; and the film that made us all afraid to go swimming, Jaws, directed by Steven Spielberg on April 9.

Seating is limited for the food, talk and movie, so audience members are encouraged to purchase their tickets early. The deadline for buying tickets for High Noon is midnight on Monday, January 5th.  Tickets are $20 and can be purchased by phone with a credit card or in person at the Ritz Theatre, Tuesdays through Fridays 9:00 am – 5:00 pm. Tickets may also be purchased securely online at goldenislesarts.org.  Tickets for the talk and movie only may be purchased at the door the night of the screening for $7.  For more information, go to www.goldenislesarts.org or call (912) 262-6934.
