Janet Saboor is a quilter and previous owner of her boutique gallery, Diaspora Arts. Her international travel is a contributing inuence in her work. She is known for integrating social concerns with contemporary design in her quilts.Tae Earl Jackson has a Master of Fine Arts in Sculpture from the University of Cincinnati. Her ber sculptures integrate rhythmic patterns and texture to illustrate personal events and human emotion.

Gwendolyn Aqui-brooks holds a Master of Arts from Trinity College. She has been an art educator, gallery owner, and an art therapist.

Much of the vibrant art provides a study in color and texture; some celebrates family, culture, and history; and others focus on social messaging, advancing art focused on African American imagery and life experiences. Hotel Simone – 1200 Ocean Boulevard

Suzanne Scaglione is the current Artist in Residency at Hotel Simone in partnership with Glynn Visual Arts (GVA). For many years, Suzanne’s creative outlet had been in the food industry. She was Manager of the Restaurant at the Continuing Education Center at Appalachian State University, worked at several fine restaurants in North arolina and Atlanta, owned a restaurant in Blowing Rock, North Carolina and in Brunswick Georgia and had a catering business on Saint Simons Island for 20 years. About 15 years ago a friend suggested they take a drawing class at Glynn Visual Arts. Suzanne then tried colored pencil, watercolor, and finally settled on acrylic as her medium of choice. Suzanne’s catering business was her main creative outlet, but she managed to fit in painting whenever she could. After retiring, she found that trying new techniques, adding the unexpected, and just having fun following an idea to see where it takes her, makes each painting an adventure.

A ‘Meet the Artist’ reception is planned for Thursday, July 25th in the hotel’s lobby from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m., and all members of the community are invited to attend. Hotel Simone’s new operations manager Virginia Hall will be present to offer guided tours of the hotel suites and common areas. Light refreshments will be available for purchase. Scaglione’s work will be on display through September and can be viewed daily during normal business hours in the lobby of Hotel Simone.
