Letters from David: You’re On Island Time

Each summer, St. Simons Island welcomes families, couples, and longtime visitors searching for something increasingly rare—the luxury of slowing down.

Here, life moves at a gentler pace. Mornings begin with quiet walks beneath centuries-old live oaks draped in Spanish moss, coffee enjoyed without rushing, and sunlight reflecting across the marsh as the island slowly comes to life. Days are spent stretched out on the beach, listening to the rhythm of the waves, watching children play in the sand, and letting the hours pass without ever looking at the clock. It’s what we’ve always called “Island Time.”

Island Time is more than a phrase. It’s a way of living. Lingering over brunch with friends, taking the scenic route in a golf cart simply because there’s no reason not to, and watching the sunset from the pier with nowhere else you need to be. In a world that constantly demands more speed, more noise, and more distraction, St. Simons offers something beautifully different: space to breathe.

Summer here is defined by understated elegance and simple pleasures. Fresh seafood shared around a table. Barefoot evenings by the water. Children riding bikes beneath the canopy of oak trees while live music drifts through the Village. Couples reconnecting over candlelit dinners and marsh views that never seem to get old.

What makes St. Simons so special isn’t just its beauty—it’s the feeling it creates. The island invites you to slow your pace, stay a little longer, and savor moments that might otherwise pass unnoticed.

Whether you’ve been visiting for decades or this is your very first summer here, we’re honored to welcome you. We hope your days are filled with unforgettable meals, sun-soaked afternoons, meaningful conversations, and the kind of memories that only St. Simons Island can provide.

From all of us at Elegant Island Living, welcome to Island Time.
